Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from spring of that year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

He saved 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
